Why is my QR code unscannable?
Last updated on July 2, 2026
If your QR code has stopped working or is showing an error when scanned, here are the most common reasons and how to fix each one.
1. Your subscription or trial has expired/ended
Fix: Log in to your GetQR dashboard, go to Plans & Payments, and select a plan to reactivate your codes instantly — no reprinting needed.
2. Your QR code is paused
Fix: Go to My QR Codes in your dashboard and unpause the code.
3. The QR code was deleted
When users delete QR codes, they are permanently removed and cannot be restored.
Fix: Create a new QR code.
Note: a new code will have a different pattern, so printed materials would need to be reprinted.
4. The destination link is broken
GetQR automatically monitors the health of destination links. You can see the link health status next to each code in My QR Codes. If the status shows an issue, the destination link needs to be updated.
Fix: Open the destination URL in your browser. If it doesn't load, edit the QR code in your dashboard and update it to a working URL. Since QR codes are dynamic, you can update this at any time without reprinting.
